The most common issue with an expander is a lost or half exposed expander hole. This occurs when the previous turn was not fully completed or the turn was “un-done” when the key was removed. It can be difficult to fix – come and see us if you need help!
If you’re unable to insert the key because only half of the hole is showing (photo 1), place the key into the previously completed hole located in the back of the expander (photo 2). Then, push the key back until the entire front hole is showing (photo 3). Now, go back to the front hole that was partially showing and complete the turn.
